Pompano Beach Holiday Boat Parade, Pompano Beach, Florida.- At 44 years old, the event is known as the granddaddy of South Florida’s holiday processions.  Some 80 boats were expected to participate in the 2006 parade, organized by the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce.  This year’s theme was “Celebrating 50 Years of the Pompano Beach Coast Guard Auxiliary.”  Capt. James Watson, U.S. Coast Guard District 7 chief of staff, was the grand marshal. Watson, who is stationed in Miami, was on the lead party boat, the Catalina.  Rich Leys, 7th District, RCO-E(e) and Gwen Leys, DCP (e) D3, chaired the event.  All Auxiliary facilities were under orders and showing Safety Patrol signs and ensign. Aboard the decorated Operational Facility NERISSA are Jeremy and Handan Radosh, son and daughter-in-law of Auxiliarists Burnett (Coxswain) and Katherine Radosh, 7th District, Division 3, Flotilla 07.
